Spring celebration

OPEN AIR ACTIVITY

target group - students, teachers, parents, local authorities, citizens, wide public and friends of our school

activities performed within this festival:

a) Art  - first we will introduce students the notions such as Land art, Environmental art, Eco-art  - we explain them who are representatives of such artistic movements in Europe, then we showed them some typical paintings of these painters - on the internet and we introduce the main idea of such art to them, further we explain the principles, definitions and forms (A4 activity). Then they will practise it and try to create their own paintings and drawings.

b) Chemistry – we explain the importance of water and its characteristic features during the chemistry (or science) lesson. We emphasize how important it is for our lives and environment. Then we will do some research and show them how to make chemical analysis (by simple tests). They will experience it by themselves and make conclusions about this – by creating “clean-water map”.

c) English lesson – students will get the key words from the environmental field and they will get into this problematics from the language point of view. For example we give them basic or intermediate vocabulary (words like: air, water pollution, deforestation, droughts, global warming, power stations, melting the ice caps, sea level, endangered species, recycling, and so on..)

d) Biology (nature science) subject – we will teach them about the herbs and plants which have positive influence for human bodies and health. By practical examples we will demonstrate how this can be achieved, especially, how to prepare tea which can be very refreshing, helpful and useful for people.

e) Maths – students by mathematical ways will learn more about the environment (percentages – which numbers correspond with the world fresh water, how much CO2 is released into the atmosphere, what area in m2 are forests cut down) so we will through mathematical principles explain them the importance of environmental protection and at the same time they will improve their mathematical skills.

f) Music – students will choose a song with environmental motive. The students will learn about the famous singers and activists who are famous in the music world. We will analyse the text or the lyrics of the songs. The students will get the ideas and they get positive attitude to environment through famous interprets who are mostly their idols.

g) History – the students will do the research about the environment in the past and the present. They will see human mankind from the historical point of view and they will get clear picture of the life in the past and they will be able to compare it with today world and mainly to see the effects of a man upon our planet for the last centuries. They will find out more about farming in the past, what were the outcomes of industrial era, positive/negative inventions in history for environment and ecology.

h) Technology – the students will create small souvenirs (amulets, toys, simple things) by using various material like paper, plastic, textile, and natural materials found everywhere around us like branches, pebbles, stones, chestnuts and so on. We will explain them the characteristics of such materials and the students by crafting will be creating small souvenirs or presents.

There will be more activities within the first level (f.e. in ICT – making charts in Excel document, written texts about the environment in Word document and so on, in  Physical education / sport and games – how to  lead healthy way of life by doing physical exercises, in Geography – differences in regions as well as in countries or even continents dealing with pollution of air and water, and so on).

Other three levels  are described in the “Description of Intellectual output” section.

More activities will be added and implemented into this learning process consecutively in the course of partnership after future discussions by our school experts in that field.
